Families  in Transition

Family is the cornerstone of our society. Not only does family impact how individuals make sense of the world, it also sets the foundation for relationship capabilities. In our global society families are impacted by a multitude of stressors, transitions, and outside influences. Dr. Coleman’s specialized training in family systems theory equips her to support your family through all of life’s transitions. Specifically, she has expertise supporting families impacted by the following stressors:  job relocations,  new babies, blended families, separation and divorce, abuse and trauma, immigration challenges, acculturation challenges, and terminal illnesses.

Dr. Coleman’s approach to family therapy is collaborative, supportive, and resourceful. She completed her extensive training in family therapy at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center, Miami Children’s Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Grady Memorial Hospital.

To schedule an appointment and discuss fees and payment plans please contact info@drmarissacoleman.com.  Initial assessments are 1.5 hours long, and all standard therapy sessions are 45-50 minutes. There are limited sliding scale spots available. The practice does not bill insurance, but does provide patients with the documentation needed to apply for reimbursement from out-of-network insurance benefits.
